The Studio

Snake is an advanced pilates exercise that strengthens the arms, abdominal, back, and legs, while at the same time stretches and elongates the torso.

Mat classes are beneficial for beginner and advanced pilates students. Extension of the back is a good stretch to lengthen out the abdominals and open the pelvis, while gently strengthening the back muscles.

Instructors

  Owner/Instructor: Ansley Watson

Ansley starting taking pilates in 1998 after being injured in a car accident. She wanted to share her successful rehabilitation experience with others, so after many years of student work, she became a certified pilates instructor. Ansley continues her education through advanced bodywork courses and pilates seminars. Ansley opened Joie de Vivre Pilates Studio in May 2006, hoping to give back to others what she has gained from her life-changing experience with pilates. The name of the studio, Joie de Vivre or “Joy in Life”, carries with it the intention of giving every client a strong physical body, while energizing the mind and spirit.

   Krista Overly

The name of the studio, Joie de Vivre or “Joy in Life”, carries with it the intention of giving every client a strong physical body, while energizing the mind and spirit.  Krista began her career as a yoga instructor.  She was introduced to Pilates around 2000 from a video for classical Pilates mat.  While she enjoyed the exercise, she did not notice any results.  Then in 2004, while visiting family in Alaska, she experienced Pilates in a real studio.  Since that summer in Alaska, she has been practicing Pilates both on equipment and on the mat and loving it!  As an instructor Krista really enjoys helping people deepen their mind/body connection and fitness level through the Pilates method.  She feels that by connecting the mind, body, and breath, people often find a new experience in the movements.  She particularly loves working with people getting back into shape, yoga practitioners, and others who enjoy moving their bodies.
